I have read on this listserv occasionally someone mentioning Veratrum Album
30C info and did some research on the net and emailed the company who
manufactures it, Hylands.com.

First, this company has been around for 20 years that I know of. I emailed
them this statement: Hi, need to know if veratrum album 30c is gluten free,
wheat free, barley free, oat free, rye free and corn free. Also does it
have any gums? I am allergic to tragacanth gum. I have celiac sprue disease
and am also allergic to corn, onions but I can have all milk products. This
product has been mentioned in St. Johns Listserv for celiacs as a treatment
for when one has been exposed to gluten as a rescue remedy, the
recommendation is taking 2-4 tabs under the tongue during acute attacks from
accidental gluten ingestion and I would like to confirm its contents and
report back to listserv.

This is how [log in to unmask] responded to me: "The "C" potencies are in
pellet form which is 85% sucrose and 15% lactose or in alcohol dilution.
The "X" potencies are in tablet, pellet or dilution form. The tablets are
in a base of lactose. Arcadia glue, the gummy substance from stems is used
in tableting. The only products we manufacture containing gluten are
Hyland's Calms and Hyland's Calms Forte. These two products contain Avena
Sative (common oat). Veratrum Alb. Has many indications for use, some of
which are diarrhea, constipation, headaches, nausea and vomiting. For
complete information we suggest books such as Materia Medica, by Wm.
Boericke, M.D. or A Dictionary of Practical Materia Medica, by John Clark,
M.D., which covers a wide range of homeopathic medicines. Or you may which
(sic) to contact a homeopathic physician in your area to evaluate your
condition to determine the appropriateness of Veratrum Alb. For your
condition. We look forward to being of continued service. Sincerely,
Patricia Phillips, R.N."

I re-emailed her asking more about specifics regarding the alcohol dilution
remedies. She said ".the alcohol dilutions remedies are either 20% alcohol
or 87% alcohol, synthetic not grain alcohol."

I would like to hear from people who have tried this product over a 3-6
month period or more what they think about it regarding rescue remedy for
accidental ingestion of gluten/leaky gut syndrome or however they use this
product. All responses names will be kept confidental.

Oh, for those who read a previous very recent posts regarding insomnia
treatments, it was reported someone said to use Hyland's Calms Forte - you
can see from above they are not gluten free. Most of all the other
suggestions for insomnia were very insightful and I know the person who
posted the summary is just summarizing, I am not blaming them for the
misinformation - this is why we all have to check things out for ourselves.

Thanks, Dorina, near Galveston, TX
