The Twin Cities hosts the Fourth Annual Walk for Celiac Disease
On Saturday, May 21st hundreds of people will walk to raise money and
awareness for celiac disease. Mark your calendars now!
The walk will be at Boom Island in Minneapolis. Free registration starts
at 8:30 a.m., with the walk starting at 10:00 a.m. We accept all pledges
and donations at the registration area the day of the walk. Money raised
goes to the Center for Celiac Research at the University of Maryland—
Baltimore. In the last three years, the Twin Cities celiac walk has
raised more than $175,000 for celiac research!
If you are not interested in walking, you may be interested in our food
fair. Several companies who offer gluten-free products will have their
tasty foods available to try and to buy! So you could come, meet new
people and even do a little shopping!
Another goal of this event is to educate the public about celiac disease.
But we also want to help people who live with the disease. At the walk,
you will find an information area dealing with celiac-related issues,
including support groups and summer camp. There will be music, face-
painting, Ronald McDonald and Goldy Gopher for the kids.
If you walked last year, a brochure should come to your mailing address.
Otherwise, look for posters and brochures at your local health-food
store. And as the walk nears, you can find the latest information on the
walk at www.celiacwalk.org.
