I had a problem similar to this a while back. On a machine running
OSR2, I chose "boot to old OS" from the boot menu to get into DOS
6.22.
The fix was to boot from an OSR2 boot floppy, and use SYS to
re-write the boot files on the hard drive, ignoring warnings about
them being a different version. I don't quite understand what 6.22
thinks it's doing, overwriting them on boot, but apparently it does.
