Hi again everyone,
Many questions trigger many answers! Thanks to those who provided very helpful answers and comments.
I think the problem is solved, or it will soon be when I've had time to implement the advice people gave me.
Ilias said my Alt-tags were already useful the way they were now, but I shall add the:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0//EN">
mention to help navigators deal with my pages, and also make use of the <Base href="///"> in the Head part of each page.
A nice day to everyone,
Séverine
Met vriendelijke groeten / Cordialement / Best regards
