First, I'd like to thank Candy, Terri, Edward, and David for their
responses. The consensus so far is that it is not very likely that a
blind person can independently access the menus on a DVD player.
I now have a few other questions relating to this topic that I'm
hoping some of you can answer:
1. Are the buttons on DVD players typically actual buttons you can
feel, or do most DVD players use those dreaded touchscreens?
2. Assuming that a blind person can actually access a "Menu" button,
are the files on a DVD always displayed in the same order in the
menu? In other words, would it be possible for a sighted person to
list the files in the order in which they appear on the disk so that
a blind person could write them down? Or does the order of the files
change based on which file was played last, etc.?
3. If a DVD is played on a computer, would it then be possible for a
blind person to choose the file he wants to access, similar to the
way in which we can choose files to play on a CD from within My Computer?
4. When you play a DVD on a computer, does special DVD software get
run; and if so, is this software typically accessible?
Thanks, everyone, for your help.
