Start with a cinnamonstick, 3 or 4 midly crushed cardemompods and a
thumbnail-size piece of ginger, peeled and cut into strips. When crushing the
cardemom do not crush so that the black seeds are crushed too. Only the shell
and throw the whole thing in.
Boil with 1 litre of water for 2 minutes from when it's really boiling. If it
gets too strong in flavour simply add some more water!
I make this in the morning and drink throughout the day from it. If it stand
for some time it gets very strong in taste and it should not be reheated time
and time again. Better to make fresh.
Don't make it often enough but it's a warming drink, all the ingredients are
"fiery".
A refreshing cold drink which calms down is lemonjuice, something called in
Dutch "citroenmelisse" which is a plant that looks like mint but tastes like
lemon a bit, small green leaves and very tasty. The citroenmelisse is good
against nervous stress and headaches and makes a great drink together with the
lemonjuice, some honey and water.
Also great to freeze and insert a stick, then you have an icecream which is
completely Paleo-friendly.
Who knows that word in English for this plant? Searched the net but can't find
a translation. Picture attached!
