Doing further tests on my father-in-law prior to his surgery tomorrow
(Thursday) morning, it appears as though they will be putting in not three
but four and perhaps five veins to by pass the blockages. They also
anticipate having need to fix a valve not functioning right but will not
be able to make that call until they open him up. Basically his left side
of the heart is getting little to no blood and a potentially damaged valve
on the right. It also appears as though he indeed had within the past
year, had a heart attack for which he believes he can identify the time.
This new information has reduced his percentages from 98% survival to 70%
survival so continued prayers are coveted. He will be going in at 6:00AM
central time to begin preps for surgery, at 7:00 they will obtain the
veins they need for the bypass from within the chest and leg, and 8:30 the
heart surgeon will begin his 3 and a half hour operation. All up he'll be
in surgery six hours. He is in good spirits and feeling good so that helps
too. That's the update for now. Thanks.
