Amy,
I must echo Brad's comments. You aren't helping your parents by sitting
home and worrying about their problems. Their problems are just that,
theirs. The more ways that you can find to get out of the middle of their
situation the better off you will be. I'm sure that going to a work
experience would be hard emotionally, but it will prepare you to move out,
on your own and thus distance yourself from what is going on in your
home. I believe that moving on with your life is the best thing that you
can do for your situation. Who knows, as you gain distance, their problems
may even seem smaller to you as you begin to face your own challenges
instead. It's not your place to be in the middle of your parents'
termoil. It's your place to grow in Christ and become all that He intends
for you to be, not stuck behind something that you can do nothing
about. Please call your counselor and tell her, or him, that you are up
for the challenge of that work experience that he or she mentioned. You
will be better for it.
Kathy
