Brad,
simply stated, I believe prophets today judge and don't prodict. I am not
saying that somebody somewhere doesn't truely have a gift of seeing the
future but it would appear to me that all the future prophecies, as far as
God is concerned, have been spoken. Still, I believe in discernment, I
believe in the gift of wisdom, and I believe it is possible someone calling
himself a prophet might in fact hear from the Lord concerning nations and
governments and the like. I am not sure how much that helps the body of
Christ and I personally believe the office of a prophet is one of
discernment and judgement. This is why pastors don't like prophets much.
Additionally, in church governmental structure, pastors rank under apostles
and prophets. Hence the ego problem.
