synesthesia is not as uncommon as it would seem.  Sharon thinks in music
notes related to names and all.  I pray with a lady who things in sound,
that is, certain sounds, or nearly all sounds, have a physiological texture.
some people taste color or shapes or sounds.  I personally visualize words
in color.  Brad, for example, is a dark purple, almost black, color.  Phil
is white.  Carol is yellow.  Karen is red.  Janet is green.  Charlotte is
yellowish brown.
