I couldn't tell you for sure if there is a compromise, but my 6.4 Western
Digital drive that is coupled with my 4.0 Western Digital drive seems
slower than the two 6.4s on the same channel on the same motherboard you
are using. I'd put the CD on the second channel to avoid any possible
problems and make adding an additional hard drive later a simple matter.
