As promised:

My friends and I went to "dollar burger night" on Tuesday at Bar
Louie's, Station Square, Pittsburgh PA.
They have several menu options that can be made gluten free in a clean
environment according to a very helpful Tony at the Station Square
location and a server whose mother is also a celiac who frequents the
restaurant:
- cuts of meat and burgers are grilled on a surface without bread
normally, and should be fine
- grilled chicken tenders and spice rub was wonderful
- side of broccoli boiled in regular water (normally in pasta water,
of course not ok for us)
- salads (without the the usual side of garlic bread)
- their homemade chips are fried in new oil every day, and if you call
ahead, they will make you some fresh in the morning and keep them for
your visit, they do not however employ any allergen cleaning methods,
I didn't try them because I am very sensitive, perhaps those of us who
aren't would enjoy this treat
Ultimately, they were really willing to work with me, bringing out the
spice mix and recipe for me to check over... if there is something on
their menu (which is available online) that you'd like to try it seems
to me that they will try to make it work.

My recommended protocol for this restaurant if you choose to visit it
or one of its chains, call ahead and speak with the kitchen manager if
you have other allergen questions or the general manager and ask them
to let the kitchen manager on duty during the time you plan to be
there know that you will be coming and requesting a gf meal, and what
that means. Order directly with the kitchen manager when you arrived
by asking your server to let them know you (the wonderful happy and
hungry celiac) have arrived.

The food was wonderful (I had the grilled chicken tenders and a side
of broccoli) but the service takes a little extra time (possibly do to
my server), so as always, don't go starving. They're happy to
accommodate and I highly recommend going - especially for those of you
in the Pittsburgh area please treat yourself to a night out at bar
louie's in station square, Dough is the usual kitchen manager in the
evenings, and he's great!

GF Alcohol List verified by calling and emailing each company (not bar louie's)
Relevant to bar louie's only in that they didn't have any of my "staples"
- all smirnoff vodkas and flavored vodkas are safe
- patron silver is safe
- frangelico is safe
- kettle one vodka and citrone are safe
- dekuyper sent me a full list of their gf products, if you would like
it please email me with subject heading "dekuyper request" and I will
gladly forward it to you

I have no interest in this company or chain, I just want a decent safe
meal and good drinks with friends.

Eleanor
