Diane,
System restore automatically creates restore points by default every 24 hours of real time operation.
This can be altered in the registry by the administrator using the Registry Editor. (not advised)
New restore points are also created under special conditions;
When you install Windows updates
When you perform a restore operation
When unsigned drivers are installed
When a program is installed/uninstalled using Install shield or Windows Installer.
I am unaware of any other automation capabilities (perhaps someone more knowledgeable can add to this).
HTH,
Hal Seabolt

Subject: [PCBUILD] system restore
Does anyone know how to set system restore to automatically set a restore
point when you turn the computer on?
I'm using WinXP2 on an HP computer.
