Most new hard drives come with a program designed to do just that.
Temporarily install the new drive as a slave, or on the other IDE channel,
run the transfer program, then install the new drive. Be sure to set the
Master and Slave jumpers as apppropriate.

Subject: [PCBUILD] Transfer of Data
I would like to add a hard drive to my computer and make it my primary
drive.
I need to know how to transfer the files and programs, and os, from my
current drive to the drive I'am installing.
