Congrats, Tom! Good show.

I've read several times that Vit C reduces post-workout soreness but have
not tried it. At an exercise class I go to (could almost qualify for Navy
Seals training <g>), the instructor has a tin of Vit C wafers to dip into,
but since they look like ones with sugar/sweetener I don't partake. I
swear, though, that I remember reading something last year that said
high-antioxidant use can diminish performance. Dave McGovern, a racewalking
champ (I attended one of his weekend clinics last year), tells a story of
being recruited by some company a few years ago to endorse their
vits/supplements. His training got more and more laborious and less
productive. Leaving a week early for the Honolulu Marathon, he forgot to
pack his vits/supps and saw his training improve within a couple of days.
I had an experience this summer with unabated fatigue which really
interfered w/ exercise and life in general. Read an article by Jack Challem
in which he reported from the father of the free-radical theory himself that
too many anti-ox's cause fatigue. I quit every thing cold turkey and felt
fabulously better not long after. Apparently, there's some break point
(probably very individual), between enough and too much.

And I agree that low-carb exercise is very do-able. :-) Though I think the
body has to be very adapted to it over a good while. I can tell when my
body shifts into fat-burning mode while exercising (usually pretty early
on)because the taste/smell of my breath is an instant alert.
