built-up wood trim question...
>>I'll settle for a mediocre tree trunk.
I'll settle for a tree stump to sit on while I sharpen my cedarwood
pencil make a sketch of the next tree to be cut down and chopped up into
finger-jointed finish boards.
John the Woodworker
(actually I'm too busy these days saving old wood to do much sketching
or even real woodworking, although the other day I did use a 1/4" x 2" x
4" piece of pine as a dutchman to fill a hinge gain on an old 2" x 3' x
7' door that was headed for the dump, but ended up back in the house,
resulting in a 2609% NROIW (Net Return On the Investment of Wood), while
I did join the dutchman to the door using my fingers, I did not use
finger-joints, you can see my step-by-step method in the March/April
issue of Old-House Journal, page 27)
