    Chris:

I got the Buddipole package, complete with the tripod and 8-foot mast. I
simply used the supplied tripod and mast to mount the antenna.

As a way to stabalize the tripod and mast on the ground, I took a cork screw
"pet anchor", screwed it into the ground at the center of the tripod, and
wrapped rope around it and the legs of the tripod.

Kinda quick and dirty, but it worked--at least the antenna didn't blow over
on a somewhat windy day. HI! HI!

Hope this helps at least a little.
