Hi Bob.

Thought I would adjust the subject line to reflect the subject.  Sticker
shock is right when it comes to auto tuners, but not everything is as
absurdly over-priced as the Icom stuff is.  I have the Icom AT-180 auto
tuner, which sells for $370, and as far as I can tell, it isn't any better
than the third party after market tuners that cost considerably less.  I
think that if Icom cut the price on that by about 40 to 45 percent, they
would probably have it just about right.  Anyway, they sold me one, so I
guess the high price worked out ok for them after all.

I have been generally impressed by what I've seen out of LDG Electronics,
so maybe when the time comes, you might want to look at their stuff, unless
you are one of those guys who likes to have everything in your station from
the same manufacturer.  Mine is a hodge-podge, of course!
