This will be my first GF Christmas. One of the activities I enjoyed
doing most at this time of year was baking gingerbread houses. Being
new to this, I am not very
experienced in converting other recipes to GF. I am wondering if
anyone has a GF recipe for gingerbread dough that they would share
with me.
OR . . . could someone help me convert my recipe below to make it GF?
Gingerbread Dough
1/2 C Butter/margerine
1/2 C firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 C Molasses
1 egg
2 1/2 C flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cloves
2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Chill. Roll out and cut out houses or gingerbread men. Bake and
decorate.
I wondered if I could use Betty Hagemann's principle of substitutions
where she says to use 1 C of the GF flour mix for each cup of wheat
flour called for in a recipe? . . . But then what other ingredients
(i.e. Xanthan gum) etc. would I need to add?
I would appreciate any help on this anyone could give me as I would
REALLY like to make the houses again this year.
Thanks!!!
