The device is being described as an Optacon. Unfortunately it isn't onne.
The optacon presents its users with a picture of actual print material as
it apears on the print page. The current device does not do this. The
print material is pre-scanned before the user if accesses it. In other
words the new device is a glorified scanner. That is the reason it is not
attracting much attention.
There is another device worth watching called the videotim. This device
will work like the optacon to show actual print material right on the
original page. The primary difference is that the videotim converts the
image on its mini screen to a series of dots similar tothe type of dots
one would feel on a braille display, rather than vibrating rods like the
original optacon. This videotim them should be less noisy and also perhaps
sharper than the original optacon.
I believe the website is abtim.com but I may not be right about that.
Suggest you use your favorite searchengine and lok for videotim which is
one word.
