I don't know. Maybe political?
I think of a line from the Sumerian creation story (Enuma Elish/When in the
Heights) that in translation reads:
"When Kingship was lowered from Heaven".

Why trade wealth and ease for toil and poverty?

Similar teaser in the garden of Eden story, where Adam and Eve were expelled
for losing their innocence.
