Hello Fran and welcome, So good of you to join us. At the end of my letter
I've enclosed way of joining another group for Birth to Three. I'm Beth and
I'm an Occupational therapist who specializes in developmental disabilities.
I've made it my life's work to help people (especially children) and their
families realize their potential. In another life I was an early
interventionist, parent trainer and respite care worker.
I know right now it all seems overwhelming and unending. The questions you
have for your child are asked countless times so, first of all know you are
not alone. Have you contacted your local Birth to Three agency? The
questions you asked unfortunately are at this time unanswerable. And no one
should give you a definite answer. We don't know because, the potential for
each child is different and depends on so many factors.
Continued relux could mean a food allergy, have you tried different
formulas? Have you tried a cassein free or gluten free formula? This is
actually where I start for a lot of my families. Also, keep a little diary,
and get a provider to help you see if there is a pattern in the reflux.
Things you want to notice, does it seem to get worse if she is constipated,
is she elevated long enough after feedings? Do her feedings need to be more
frequent and smaller? Temperature of feedings? Do you get a lot of mucous
through her G-tube when expressing air?
A lot to ask isn't it? That's why you want to make sure you can get some
providers that can assist you through the process.
Which state are you in?

Beth T. the OT
