Is the monitor a shadow mask or Trinitron type? For a shadow mask, you might
use a magnetic tape bulk eraser - it is a bit stronger than a degasser and
more effective. Don't try that with a Trinitron CRT!!! It will bend the
aperture grill and could damage it. For Trinitron, just leave it alone and
it may recover after a few weeks - it did on my machine. I did not know any
better and tried a bulk eraser on it - that is why I know not to do it!
