When i run regedit i find that (1) under HKEY_local_Machine I find config, driver, enum etc etc and if i click the + sign next to enum i get acpi, esdi, flop etc etc but no "current control set".
under the same key if i go to "system" i get "current control set","control" and "services". if i click the + sign in control i get no "enum" but other listings
If i go to HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG I get "display", "enum" and if i click the + sign in enum i get acpi, pnp0700and then 0. i can not find any current control set.
i will be very gratefull if you can let me know which "enum" key to delete.
i have managed to save all my data, fdisk, repartition and get win 98 se load into safe mode in this hdd after nearly a month (as you will no doubt note from the dates) and you will appreciate my anxiety in the matter.
the problem now is my bios shows ide primary=hdd, slave=crd, but windows device manager shows only the disk drives and no cd rom. in fact device manager starts with "disk drive" and not "cdrom" as is the usual listing under "my computer"
sorry for the long and perhaps "confusing" post but any help will be appreciated
GOD bless--- venkat viswanathan
