The C drive won't format itself, because it's running the OS that you are looking at. You need to either reinstall Windows using the CD, or use a floppy dikk program called something like "clean start."

Subject: [PCBUILD] Format C:
Hi,
When I try to format my computer, it tells me that volume is being used in
another process. Then it ask about dismounting something. What can I do to avoid
this and just simply format my computer?
Thanks

Hello,
formatting your C drive when your computer is running is some thing that will not work.
Windows can not wipe itself of when running.
If you want to format your hard drive completely you will have to boot your pc with the windows cd in the drive and format from that point on.
Alternate you can boot with a Win 98 boot disk and use " fdisk and format " under DOS.
If you only want to format a second or third partition you will have to check that you did not installed running program on those.
All the best,
Roger.
