Hi All,
Dell Optiplex GX110 with win98, HPLaser Series II connected via parallel
port, works all right if parallel port configured as EPP or ECP.
Problem:
when the computer is shut down, on restart windows cannot find the
printer. Downloading and re-installing printer driver does not help.
The only way to get the printer working is to get into System Setup,
Integrated Peripherals and change parallel port from PS/2 to either ECP or
EPP, Save Setup and Exit. Re-start and windows finds new hardware and the
printer works. The problem starts with next shutdown. The Setup somehow
changes back to PS/2. So the cycle starts: change from PS/2 to ECP, Save &
Exit, reinstall the printer.
Why is Setup defaulting to PS/2? Is it the battery at fault? BIOS in need
of updating? Should we buy a new parallel port adapter?
Thanks in advance,
Irena.
