Dear Listmates -
After I posted the summary, I heard from two listmates who actually
have taken this or similar products.

They said they had no problems with it - and that young barley grass,
harvested
before the flowering stage - is not the same as the barley seed
- that the gluten is in the seed.

However, a couple of listmates in my first summary had problems with all
such products - even though the manufacturer said it was GF.

Looks like an individual situation.
