Can the contents of the RECYCLER folder be safely deleted? I tried out
Microsoft Windows Defender and it has found 4 items that it wants to remove
indicatiing they are of High or Severe threat. It can't remove them as it
says they are part of an Archive. The 4 items are NewDotNet, Webhancer,
Marketscore.InternetAccelerator and Marketscore.Relevantknowledge. I suspect
they may already have been removed by Adaware or Spybot but Windows Defender
shows them in the following location.
NewDotNet
C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1157166300-3849205493-3895304184-1003\Dc7\butterfliesfr
ee.exe->(WiseSfx)->(wise0089)
WebHancer
C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1157166300-3849205493-3895304184-1003\Dc7\butterfliesfr
ee.exe->(WiseSfx)->(wise0089)
Marketscore.InternetAccelerator
C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1157166300-3849205493-3895304184-1003\Dc7\butterfliesfr
ee.exe->(WiseSfx)->(wise0091)
Marketscore.Relevantknowledge
C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1157166300-3849205493-3895304184-1003\Dc7\butterfliesfr
ee.exe->(WiseSfx)->(wise0092)
When I look in the RECYCLER Folder I see 3 other files and a folder with
similar long names but nothing that matches exactly. I have no idea what the
purpose of this folder is and if the contents can safely be removed. I did
download a file to remove NewDotNet but Windows Defender still indicates it
is in the RECYCLER Folder.
Thanks for any suggestions and help.
