By The Gambia Journal
Apr 21, 2006, 18:23
Banjul, April 20 The Gambia Journal
Mr. Sheriff Mustapha Dibba, leader of the NCP and recently sacked speaker of
the National Assembly on Thursday visited President Jammeh at the State House
to renew his allegiance to the APRC regime. Mr. Dibba, who was released on
Saturday after spending two weeks in detention, said he blames no one for his
detention as it must have been predestined by God. He reaffirmed his loyalty
to President Jammeh and his condemnation of the coup. He said his party's
collaboration with the APRC was not for position-seeking reasons. President
Jammeh in reply said he bears no personal grudge against the disgraced former
Speaker of the National Assembly. He used the occasion to denounce what he
called the politics of tribalism. He said that he will not tolerate politicians
who hide behind what he called tribalism and democracy to destabilize the
country.
