Kathy I totally agree with you on this one! The media will not report what
Christians are doing over there and they certainly won't report any money
collected by a Christian recording artist but yes if it were Paul McCartny
or Celine Deon you can bet we will hear about it!!!

Actually, the reason that you don't know about how much the church is
doing is because the mass media isn't interested in telling you, but I
assure you that a lot his happening on the Christian front. The beauty is
that there are a lot of missionaries already in place over there so it is
pretty easy for denominations to funnel their resources to them because the
workers are already in place. For example, our denomination is collecting
money for the World Relief fund, both on line and in the offerings on
sunday mornings. I know that over $10,000 has been collected in just on
line donations from us and we're a pretty small denomination. World Vision
is over there. I know that the Lutheran church is over there. The list
goes on and on, but you'll never hear about any of it because the hollywood
crowd and the Red Cross, which is no longer a Christian organization, get
all the publicity. Sorry, I'm not very impressed. I like it that the
church people were already in place for deeper spiritual reasons than a
publicity stunt. It doesn't help that the majority of the people affected
by the Tsunami are muslim and they have their reasons not to give the
Christians credit as well. For example, a group of Christians tried to
rescue three hundred orphaned children and the Islam government refused the
release of these children on religious grounds. The bigger question is,
how many Muslim countries are coming to the aid of these people? One
figure that I heard was "ZERO!" There's more to it than what you are being
told.
Just my two cents worth.
Kathy
