Dear God,
I want to experience
Your gentleness today.
I am often harsh with myself,
berating and accusing,
undoing the gentle work You are about.
Even while You whisper to me,
I drown You out with my own
harsh judgments of myself.
I don't want to do that, Lord!
Teach me Your gentleness, Jesus.
Show me today the path of grace.
Let Your gentleness wash my heart clean
of self-defeating approaches to change.
Quiet my spirit as You pass by
so I will hear Your gentle whisper.
