I have an IBM 300pl that is giving me these messages on start-up:

The RF-ID tag has changed.
184 Asset control antenna not detected.
System security- Keyboard is locked.
System security- Keyboard is unlocked.
176 the system has been tampered with.
Turn power to your system off and then on.
Your system is now locked.

I turn off the machine, reboot and get the same messages.

My internet research has told me that RF-ID and Asset control have to do with inventory control within the company from which I obtained the computer. More research has told me to clear the CMOS, replace the CMOS battery, replace faulty capacitors, and flash the BIOS. At the moment I'm working on flashing the BIOS. I have found the BIOS update on IMB's site, downloaded the .exe and extracted to a floppy.

This is where I hit a brick wall. How do I flash the bios on a machine that won't boot up at all, let alone far enough to read the floppy?

If I can't get this machine up and running is there a way to remove the hard drive and connect it to another machine to recover the data I need?

Thanks in advance!

Todd...
