Heck, some animal rights groups think having pets is akin to slavery.
Personally, I think people who force their dogs and cats on a
vegetarian diet are cruel and misguided. But I keep my opinions to
myself...... I wish they would.

I feed my dogs chicken leg quarters, backs, necks; turkey wings, legs,
necks; pork necks, feet, ..... what ever is on sale. Plus, I go to the
local meat processing plant and get bones for them, bones from cows,
pigs, goats, deer, and who knows what else. I also make it a point to
feed them liver, kidney, gizzards and heart regularly, and eggs
occaisionally. I feel internal organs are very important
nutritionally, especially since I have been slack with the veggies.

To be perfectly honest, they are my garbage disposals. They get all of
our scraps, get to lick all the pans, anything they will eat that's
not onions or chocolate. (keep in mind, these are scraps from an
entirely paleo household) My big guy lives for the egg yolk from the
breakfast plates. The ideal diet would be to grow my own rabbits and
chickens and throw one to each of them every couple of days. But I am
not quite that dedicated.

Healthwise, the difference is amazing. Not only do they not get sick,
my female GSD lost that nasty smell (except for when she rolls in
poo!) that she had on a high quality dog food. Their breath doesn't
smell bad, and their teeth look great. As Lynn said, it was the
apparent health of the dogs that led me to the Paleo diet for myself
and my family.

You should see how my 16 year old outdoor cat with allergies is doing
on my homemade catfood. The fact she is still alive is amazing.

Every day, my own little experiment with my animals proves to me the
efficacy of a Paleo diet.
