Good morning Venkat and thank you for your response. To answer your question, I simply powered up the computer one morning and it was like this. Don't recall what I was running the night before, but almost positive it was nothing more than the internet (IE) and I always shutdown using the "turn off" option in the Start Menu. I hope this helps, as I am still at a loss. Thanks again!

it will help if you can give an idea as to how it "crashed". what I mean is did it do so one fine morning when you powered up/ while running any programs/ games/ was the system moved around somewhat prior to the crash/do you recollect the last program or whatever you were running prior to the crash/ was it shut down for the day ?
sometimes one gets clues from these.
good luck----Venkat
