I am not an anthropologist but I believe that the period between the
Paleolithic and the Neolithic is the Mesolithic. It lasted for about 10,000
years (from about 20,000 years ago to about 10,000 years ago.) Mesolithic
hunter gatherers gathered grains. This is shown in the archeological record
from early scythes and mortars and pestles. The article says that the site
pushes the date back 10,000 years so I conclude that the earliest scythes
and mortars and pestles must have been dated to about 13,000 years ago. Ken
