Amen brother! THe radio Slack in Burlington IOwa has had its ups and
downs with personnel. Back in the days when I was running a Fidonet
connected bbs the store manager was one of my regular BBS users and
became a friend. HIs dad was a ham from northern Illinois.

I could go in there in those days even looking for parts and if they
had it or could get it he'd get me the right part. THen of a sudden
they promoted him then let him go, he became a district or regional
manager.

tHey got this little bimbo with her platform heels who couldn't find
anything, didn't know anything and was offended when I told her that
no I didn't want a cell phone for a penny and didn't want her to try
to sell me another long distance plan. sHe couldn't tell the diff
between crimp-on and regular solder type Pl259 connectors, and forget
their mini rg8 coax, wouldn't have it as a gift.

That said the htx-202 and 404 were excellent value for the money.
Owned both radios and loved 'em.
THe 202 was built like a tank!!!
YEars ago they had a guy who was the electronics technology teacher
at the community college as one of theri clerks and a couple of other
guys, th is was back in the '70's in fact.
