Question: Are you taking the oil vit E and if yes, do you think it
might provide some protection against flare ups?

I use Now Vitamin E (http://www.nowfoods.com). It is natural, d-alpha,
and contains no wheat or gluten.
What I have been told is that the flattening of the small intestine that
occurs in at least most celiacs prevents us absorbing vitamin E
properly. Therefore we need extra, so that we can get enough. Yes
there is a relation between celias and vit E, just the reverse of what
you asked.
Based on my experience, 100 IU of Vitamin E can help with skin, hair,
and nails I guess, but I've never noticed and anti-depressant effect.
100 IU seems like a small to moderate dose to me, but I'll have to check
my bottle when I get home. I have not heard that E is a blood thinner.
I do know E is a great antioxidant and may promote prostate health. From
what I have heard, Vitamin E is second only to Vitamin C in its health
benefits; however, there is very little hard scientific research on
this. There is a tremendous amount of anecdotal info.

Tests can only rule celiac in - they can't rule it out. Many doctors
don't that & think the test is the end all. I've never been tested -
there is no need I already know I have it. I'm just like you, all dried
out - make sure you get enough salt - 2 grams per day. Also, if you can
get in the habit of giving your self a foot massage, focus on the K1
point. Press and hold, it helps the kidney and really works to control
and reduce thirst.
I'm using a grape seed oil by "Grapeola". It's really not as expensive
as olive oil, yet you can fry with it without it smoking. It say's on
the bottle that 1 tsp. is equivalent to 100%of your vitamin E needs for
the day. Is also very high in omega E.
My guess is that it's just another deficient nutrient caused by the
damaged villi.
I have always read that the d-alpha form of Vitamin E is more readily
absorbed. The dl-alpha is not as good. I don't have any references
handy but it was in nutrition journals that I have read this.
