The overwhelming favorite was KitchenAid Stand Mixer (about 40 response for
KitchenAid).
Most, but not all said that the higher the wattage the better. Some
recommend the model by name:
-KA Professional 6 Quart Stand Mixer (3)
-KA 325 Watt Tilt Head Artisan (4)
-KA Professional Plus (1)
-KA 5 Quart Stand 225-250 Watts (1)
-KA - the one you put the bowl in and then turn the crank ("better than tilt
head" (1)
-several recommended checking E-bay
-several recommended looking for refurbished models and stated that these
are
often holiday returns or overstocks.

One person recommend Toast Master with Dough Hooks ("relatively inexpensive
at Target")

One person recommended Bosch Standard Universal or Concept (approx 700 Watts
power)
Also, said there is a Baby Compact at 400-450 Watts of power.

One recommend a Viking stand mixer with 800 watts of power (said they had
worn out a KA with 300 watts of power in two years)

One recommend an unspecified stand mixer with a dough hook

One recommend a good 'ole fashioned Wooden spoon

One recommend a Hamilton Beach Mixer ($20 at Costco)
