Hi Everyone!
By now all of you have probably heard about the new USDA Dietary
Guidelines released in January. For the most part, they spell out common-
sense things that most of us know or have heard before about what we
should eat. The importance is in the emphasis that is placed on the foods
and amounts we should include in our diets for optimum nutrition.
One of the recommendations is that we should each eat 3, 1 oz. servings of
whole grains a day. Whole grains provide fiber, protein, antioxidants,
vitamin E, B vitamins and trace minerals essential to good health.
Getting enough whole grain nutrition in a gluten-free diet can be tricky
when several of the most common grains must be completely eliminated. Now
is the perfect time to start to incorporate “new” grains like amaranth
into your eating plan The rich, wholesome goodness of amaranth not only
provides higher dietary fiber and higher amounts of calcium and the above
mentioned nutrients than most grains, it is also an excellent source of
iron.
To help you get started, we are offering an “Amaranth Whole Grain Benefit”
promotion. Choose a cereal, a snack product and a baking or cooking
product (which can include our new side-serves), sue Promotion Code CLS205
when you are checking out and take $2.00 off your order!
Until next time-----happy eating and cooking!
