Don, I unchecked all six boxes (as I’m a ‘Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway’
sort of a girl ;-)) and if this message has its full complement of
apostrophes; it’s worked.

Betty, your solution is the simplest, and I’ll try it if this message has
any intrusive numerals!

Keith, if this doesn’t work, I’ll use your helpful tip of copying to
notepad before recopying to the list screen. I also like the sound of
the ‘re-formatting of earlier posts’ option, but I usually avoid writing
directly on the reply form as I like to check my grammar and spelling
before posting.
