I'd love to have a talking swr meter. All that is needed to adjust the
tuner is a variable tone peak or dip or whatever. I'm not sure if the cw
tuner previously discussed on this list has the variable tone, and to me
this by far the easiest way to make adjustments. After these are made
with the tone, you can take the exact readings if you wish. I have an i f
r service monitor and I wrote a basic program for this to take readings
and send them back to the computer;. I could get an exact reading, but as
mentioned this was of little use during the adjustment itself. When
tuning up a radio, I preferred an old conway oscilater I had hooked across
an old drake watt meter. Alass, this little beast no longer works.
