The jaws scripting language is like most any programming language. Some
people write scripts (programs) and charge for them but there are *lots* of
scripts you can get for free. I just checked my Jaws directory and there
are almost 200 JSB files (scripts) which came with Jaws and provide support
for the most popular applications. Many applications work just fine with no
special scripting at all.
I have both Window Eyes (v45) that came with my laptalk, but I've never
really used it because I prefer JFW. I do admit I am a programmer and I've
written many of my own scripts and / or modified existing scripts to meet my
own needs.
I do get annoyed when these screen reader contest get started (especially
off topic). Saying one screen reader is better than another is like saying
a pickup truck is better than a minivan. That's crazy, everyone has their
own needs. I've used both Window Eyes and JFW and I choose jfw because it
meets my needs better and the scripting language is the selling point for
me.
I told myself I wasn't going to get into this off topic thread, but I just
couldn't stop myself <g>
