Here''s reply CC Thompson sent to a couple of people who replied
about glutenfreedrugs.com:

"Why hasn't Dr. Plogsted taken responsibility for his work and put
his name on it? There seems to be no names, contacts or updates
listed on the website. I will not take a stranger's word for it that
something is GF, and I certainly can't take the word of "no one".
The website is incomplete. A contact with credentials and a regular
update would help to instill some confidence for me and the countless
others who have expressed the same interest since I posted this
question on the listerve. Please forward our concerns to the doctor.
Thank you."

This is me:

I agree completely that the source of this information and method of
collecting it should be on the website. I also think we should know
how old this information is (I can tell you it's pretty darn old).
That way you can evaluate how much to trust the list. Contact
information would be nice -- it used to be there -- but I assume it's
not there now because he was being overwhelmed with questions about
drugs not on the list.

I don't see, however, where any of us has the right to demand updates
or to point out the holes in the information (other than the lack of
info about where this came from). As I understand it, Steve Plogsted
is a volunteer who pulled this together because he wanted to.
Plogsted has a regular job he has to work to pay the bills. Updating
glutenfreedrugs.com does NOT pay the bills. In addition, there's no
way any list can include every medication possible because there are
something on the order of 100,000 drugs on the market.

Bottom line is it's OUR responsibility to find out about medications
and food ourselves. Unless you're paying somebody for regular updates
or complete lists, or unless you know somebody is paying them to do
that as their job, it's nobody else's responsibility.

Richard
