I am CD and have been working hard at being GF for the past 6 moths or
so. I have developed other food sensitivities and have not been tested
for other allergies at this point. I seem to be more than lactose
intolerant (allergy to whey or casein) and have trouble with soy, eggs,
some corn, some nuts.
Here is my problem, there are days when I just want ice cream or other
food that will probably cause me some discomfort. The symptoms I have
include stomach ache (depending on amount of food consumed), mild diarrhea,
bloating, mouth sores and anal rash, flatulence. Other things that I
suspect might be from these foods are joint aches and stiffness as well as
headaches. I do not always get all of these problems when I succumb to
my desire to have these forbidden foods, but it is noticeable to me.
I want to know if I am likely to be causing more damage to myself by having
some of these foods.
I am also considering having allergy tests done to determine if, in fact
the foods I suspect are really problems or if I am missing the mark. Does
anyone know of specific tests I should ask for? I live in the western
mountains of North Carolina and my choices of doctors is limited, but I do
have a good GP and this list!!!
Thanks to this list for the wealth of information I have already gleaned
and the supportive nature of the folks who contribute so much to making
life better for all of us.
