Today's meat *is* contaminated. If not because of modern feeding practices,
then because of modern housing practices ( overcrowding, resulting in spread
of disease necessitating medications and vaccines) and chemical additives
(steroids, hormones, dyes). But do most people really try to deal with the
problem? Discussion gets us nowhere. We seem to forget that we CAN control
the products offered to us. Supermarkets now sell organic veggies - because
cosumers demanded them. Supermarkets now sell air-cooled chickens - because
consumers demanded them. Consumers can also demand changes in laws
governing standards for livestock production. How many have even asked
their local supermarket manager to stock certified organic, free-range meat?
