Try finding your caloric balance first off.   In other words, stick to a
basic diet for a week or so, and see how much you have to eat to maintain
your weight--not adding, not losing, just staying the same.  Then you
can work from that, reducing the intake or increasing the output
(physical activity) appropriately.
