Fruit Juice: More Than A Glass A Day Is Too Much.
Many parents give their children plenty of fruit juice,
thinking that it's a nutritious drink. However, a recent
study of 94 2-year-olds and 74 5-year-olds found that
42% of children who drank more than 12 ounces of
juice a day were significantly shorter than average (less
than the 20th percentile) and 53% were obese. Fruit
juice is high in calories and is a bad substitute for milk,
whole fruit and other nutritious foods, the authors say.
