I went to CVS pharmacy (local chain) to get one of those kits a few months
after I started the Atkins diet. They were gone. I asked the pharmacist.
He said that the store had stopped selling them because they had been
proven to be wildly inaccurate. Maybe you got a different kind, but if
you're concerned, it wouldn't hurt to get a real lab test done...
Take care,

i've been on low carb for almost a year now, specifically on NeanderThin
since May. when i was a vegetarian, my cholesterol readings were between
150-160. so i decided to check what being on NeanderThin has done to my
cholesterol. i have been putting this off and putting it off, since i was
worried: what if it turned out to be high? would i quit paleo-eating?
well, not to worry. i did one of those home cholesterol tests, purported
to
be 97% accurate, if one reads the instructions and follows them. my
reading
today is 162.
