Hi!
It gives me great pleasure to announce the creation of Raki TV. I have for a while now been thinking of the creation of a visual medium to promote Gambian music, history and culture. As the first anniversary of Raki Web Radio nears (14th. January), I thought it necessary to extend the services offered. I therefore decided to choose the anniversary to launch the tv. The tv will broadcast live and only broadcast Gambia-related material. Due to lack of material to broadcast 24 hours like the radio, the tv will for the moment broadcast as material becomes available. I will send broadcast information when I have material to broadcast. The tv like the radio is a hobby meant to promote and bring about awareness of Gambia and its history and culture. It is a community project. As such, I am appealing to everyone to help keep it alive. If anyone has material related to Gambian music, history and culture, I would appreciate it a lot if they can make them available so others can enjoy and learn from them.
I have plans to broadcast on the tv's launching date Gambian music videos, the GNIC football finals between Wallidan and Young Africans and the 1992 election campaign featuring Jawara's resignation speech that was broadcast on Raki Web Radio. (I received calls and e-mails from many and those who enjoyed the audio can now enjoy the videos).
I will send the broadcast times later. I hope you enjoy and find the tv useful. Thanks and have a good evening.
Buharry.
