Buddy,

There is a beep at memory 0, and the first time you try to program a
memory, you'll have to spin the tuning knob clockwise until you hear
it. When you do this, you're bypassing the Information memories, the
Priority memories, and the low and high limit memories for
scanning. Although there is no direct access to which memory you're on,
you can get around this by recalling the last memory you programmed. Then
when you press the Function button, just move the tuning knob one position
clockwise to go to the next available memory. By rotating the knob
counter-clockwise when you're on Memory 0, you can access the Priority and
Information memories as well as the low and high scanning limit
memories. Actually, it's much easier to do this with the software, but it
can be done without it.

Note that although you cannot enter a memory that hasn't been programmed
yet, you can skip a memory when the Function button has been pressed by
moving the tuning knob past its number. For example, if Memory 5 is the
last memory you have programmed, and you want to put something in memory 7,
do the following:

Recall memory 5 by pressing the MR button, then Enter, then 5, then
Enter. Then press the VFO button followed by the Function button. Moving
the tuning knob one position clockwise will put you in memory 6, and moving
it again will put you in memory 7, and so forth. You have to keep your
wits about you when you try this, but if you do, it works quite well. Have
fun with your new radio.
